Non-Ferric Aluminium Sulphate

What is Non-Ferric Aluminium Sulphate (Al₂(SO₄)₃)?

Non-Ferric Aluminium Sulphate, commonly known as alum, is a high-purity form of Aluminium Sulphate that contains minimal or no iron (Fe) impurities. It appears as a white or off-white crystalline powder or solid lumps and is highly soluble in water, producing a slightly acidic solution.

This grade of aluminium sulphate is preferred in applications where clarity, purity, and color control are critical. It is widely used in water purification, paper manufacturing, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals where the presence of iron could cause discoloration or contamination.

USES AND APPLICATIONS

INDUSTRIES

Non-Ferric Aluminium Sulphate is widely used in:

  • Drinking water and wastewater treatment (as a coagulant for suspended solids removal)

  • Paper industry (as a sizing agent to improve paper quality)

  • Textile and dyeing industry (as a mordant and pH adjuster)

  • Cosmetics and personal care (in deodorants and astringents)

  • Pharmaceutical industry (as a stabilizing and clarifying agent)

  • Food industry (in regulated applications for food-grade alum)

KEY ADVANTAGES

  • High purity – contains low or no iron content, ideal for sensitive applications

  • Effective coagulating and clarifying agent

  • Produces clear solutions in water treatment

  • Suitable for white paper and light-colored textile processing

  • Non-corrosive and easy to store or transport
