What is HEDP 100?
HEDP 100 (1-Hydroxyethylidene-1,1-diphosphonic acid) is a high-performance, versatile phosphonate-based scale inhibitor and corrosion inhibitor widely used in industrial water treatment applications. It is a stable, water-soluble organic compound known for its excellent ability to prevent the formation of scale deposits and protect metal surfaces from corrosion, even under high temperature and alkaline conditions.
HEDP 100 functions by chelating metal ions such as calcium, magnesium, and iron, thereby preventing these ions from forming insoluble scale deposits like calcium carbonate or calcium sulfate. Additionally, it forms a protective film on metal surfaces, which inhibits corrosion caused by oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other aggressive agents.
This chemical is commonly used in cooling water systems, boiler water treatment, oilfield water injection, and desalination plants, where it helps maintain system efficiency by reducing scale formation and minimizing equipment degradation. Its excellent thermal stability allows it to perform effectively at temperatures up to 250°C.
HEDP 100 is also compatible with other water treatment chemicals, making it a flexible choice for multi-component treatment programs. While it is generally safe when used as recommended, handling concentrated solutions requires appropriate protective equipment to avoid skin and eye irritation.
